Republican Keith Lepor is set to announce his candidacy today for the 9th Congressional district, challenging Democratic Rep. Stephen Lynch.
Lepor's top priorities include jobs, the economy, energy policy and national security.
"We are at a critical juncture where so much needs to and can be done and yet the gridlock in Washinton is like a vice grip," Lepor said in a press release. "It's time to balance the scales and reach across the aisles to get things done with a common-sense approach."
He has criticized Lynch for supporting the "allocation of our taxpayers' dollars towards the simulus package, appropriations for Federal spending and research."
Lynch has represented Massachusetts' 9th Congressional District since
2001.
Lepor, a Roslindale resident,is relatively unknown in politics, and has
worked as an embedded photojournalist in Afghanistan and Iran. He has also worked for CNN International, various
aspects of the United National, Global Fund for AIDS and the World
Health Organization.
His announcement will take place today at VFW Boston Police Post in Dorchester.
