Vice President Joe Biden is accused by Liz Cheney, former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, of downplaying threats from Al Qaeda. This suggests the Obama administration is not doing everything in its power to stop terrorist threats.
Cheney's concern regarding Al Qaeda threats was furthered by a study last week by Harvard Kennedy's School of Government, which states that Al Qaeda is trying "very hard" to obtain and use a weapon of mass destruction.
Liz Cheney and her father believe Biden's statement, "a repeat of the September 11 attacks is unlikely," is dead wrong.
In an interview that aired Sunday, Biden said Al Qaeda is on the run because of the contributions of the Obama administration. So far, Biden does not understand the reasons for the accusations against him.
She said, "there is simply no way you can say that the president is using every tool at his disposal to fight and win this war without being able to get the intelligence you need actually to defeat Al Qaeda."
The Cheney's are speaking up at a crucial time of imminent security decisions, such as the closing of Guantanamo Bay, and whether to try Khalid Sheik Mohammad and other September 11 attack suspects in a federal court.
The clash between Dick Cheney and Joe Biden aired on Sunday morning talk shows. They disagreed on major issues, such as the possibility of another terrorist attack in the United States.
